SPIRITUAL REBIRTH IS THIS:
1) REPENT : I ask God to forgive me for my sins and I now turn away from sin (repent means - stop, and do an about face, turn completely around from the way you are going)
2) BELIEVE: that Jesus was born of a virgin - that Jesus died on the cross - that Jesus rose from the dead on the 3rd day (necessary to SAY OUT LOUD you are speaking to the powers and principalities in unseen places)
3) RECEIVE: I ask Father that Jesus would come into my heart and be Lord of my life (also necessary to speak out loud - you are now speaking to God and all powers and your own self as you verbally and spiritually declare your Lord)
John 1:12 & 13 "Yet to all who recieved him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God. children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband's will, but born of God."
becoming a "Child of God" does not end with your decision - it BEGINS a new life. You strive now to LEARN and Grow spiritually and FALL IN LOVE with GOD.
Everyone knows John 3:16 and most misunderstand it to mean that all are saved by believing that there is a Jesus, the scripture says "BELIEVE IN" that means complete faith in - trust in - put your life into the hands of Jesus as you receive Him to be the Lord of your life!
This is why he came - this is why he died

what do you do NOW?
#1 Listen to Praise and Worship music as much as possible! Psalm 22:3 (KJV)
THERE IS NO WAY TO OVER IMPRESS ON YOU THE IMPORTANCE OF WHAT YOU FEED YOUR MIND - MUSIC CONTENT MATTERS
#2 Read your Bible - the whole Bible. The more you do, the more you will "want" to James 4:8 Psalm 37:4 (KJV)
Find a quiet place and read some everyday. A good place to start is the book of John and then go to Genesis. Some of the Old Testament is hard but it is all important and when you read the teachings of Jesus where he refers to scripture - he is always referring to the Old Testament prophets and commands and events. Isaiah is one of my favorite books - it is also praised by many literature professors for its astounding beauty and structure. Be careful to choose a Bible translated from the "original documents." Although its "old fashioned," the King James Version is one of the most accurate. The New King James drops the thee and thous. NIV older versions are good pre-1990 before the polictally correct corruption was introducted (see Elanas research in the link below)

#3 Practice praying "all the time" it builds your bond with the Father 1Thesselonians 5:17 (KJV)
Anytime anywhere - you can just say "I love you Father" we are taught its a "bad" thing to talk to ourselves, so we feel funny if we talk to the air, but GOD HEARS YOU. Get over it. Tell Him you want to learn, tell Him your problems then relax - hes got them in his hand. You can't have a "relationship" with someone you never talk to.....
#4 Find a Bible teaching or Preaching Church - Matthew 24:11 (NKJV)
You "need" to go for the many reasons listed on the Church page. You can't follow Christ on your own as a baby Christian in this world. Evil is too strong and you are not grounded enough to even recognize it yet. But, BE CAREFUL many many many Churchs are teaching a "social gospel" and letting the worlds idea of tolerance and love dictate what they teach. Ask the Lord for "discernment" so you can know when you are being LIED to. Some denominations are putting out ads using some of the teachings of Christ to pull you in, and then fill you with practices and beliefs that have NOTHING to do with Jesus' teachings or the Word of God. You MUST educate yourself in the Word of God. New Bibles can be expensive, you can find good used Bibles in ANY 2nd hand store and Amazon.
A Churchs' NUMBER ONE focus must be on THE WORD OF GOD and stirring you to spread the gospel of Jesus. -------- they should not be using other books, or focusing on social projects, or TOLERANCE of others and their beliefs- try to find Josh McDowells tape "Tolerating the intolerable" (below)

Assemblies of God (mildly Pentecostal) strictly Bible teaching
Baptist (some have gone away from the Bible but many are really good)
Non-Denominational Churches that are strictly Bible teaching
Profound TRUTH: "RELIGION is mans attempt to find God; CHRISTIANITY is God's attempt to find man through Jesus Christ" (Bill Bright, "Witnessing Without Fear")
Be Careful pay attention: Matthew 15:8 & 9 Jesus says: "These people honor Me with their lips, but their hearts are far from Me. They worship me in vain; their teachings are but rules taught by men." (NIV 1983)------- let that sink in really sink in, meditate on what it means....

BE CAREFUL - deceivers are writing books and television shows and internet "wisdom" and "bibles"- CHECK OUT EVERY AUTHOR - if you have asked the Holy Spirit of God to come into your heart and give you wisdom and discerment, you will quickly be able to see what spirit you are reading or listening to. Even people who believe they have been Christians for years, are completely deceived and God will be saying to them, "I never knew you." read Matthew chapter 7 verses 21 through 23.
